& Too many trips to Oracle, I lost count.
I have learned, once again, this profession is not all rainbows and butterflies. Instead it's a lot of dedicated hours and personal time taken away to get the job done. I've learned 8 bathrooms is a lot to juggle in one single project. I've learned Sarasota has the sweetest clients with the BEST views. I've learned Revit is actually challenging when starting from scratch...(just when I thought I was a pro) I've learned if I don't make it in Interior Design, branding and photoshop will forever be my calling. I've learned not ever project requires a contract. I've learned not every Contractor will give you a fair deal, but there will always be one right around the corner that will. I've learned to create good relationships will EVERYONE in the business, it helps with the referrals. I've learned scheduling takes longer than we act like it takes in class. And lastly, I have learned every detail matters, so never skip a step. Take your time and everything will end up exactly how you need it. Only you know your design, its your job to make other people create it right.
This internship has been the most fulfilling part of my experience at Southern Miss yet. I will miss the beautiful drive to work everyday and working so close to the water. I will miss the many trips to Oracle to pick out the perfect "wood plank" tile. I will miss the many days eating salads with my mentor. And most of all I will miss my mentor herself!! I am thankful for all of the learning moments you have presented me with! Thank you for challenging me and keeping me on my toes always! I wouldn't trade this experience for the world. Thank you, Mindy Webb Design for helping me realize exactly what my strengths are in the profession. Thank you Mindy for sharing my love for transitional, modern, "black-and-white" design. I no longer feel bad about not using color. :)
Who knows, maybe I will end up back in your town again. :)
